Ranbir Vohra has written an excellent survey of India's history, with an emphasis placed on the country's political development. In what is a masterful treatment of the subject matter, he provides an insightful context of the evolution of India, one of Asia's great civilizations, to that of China. In doing so, he underscores the importance of the socio-religious dimension of Indian life that has provided a central role for Hinduism in India's development. While being recommended for those looking at India for the first time, this book is strongly recommended for those of who have been in the field of South Asian or Asian studies as it provides a different way at looking at the subject matter. Moreover, the writing style is highly readable.

We can all use help for our brains.

I found this well written and informative. . I don't know if I reviewed this book before as I know I bought the book some time ago but I thought I'd tell you about my experiences taking this supplement over the past year as a result of reading this book. I find the gray brain fog I've been immersed in to be basically gone. I was seriously scared at my memory lapses especially at work. Yes, I may still forget things, but I usually remember what I forgot within a minute or two. I can't believe how much better my life is with the advice Mr. Rister has suggested. I'm going to be taking this supplement for life. Kudos to Mr. Rister for helping change my life in a positive way. It has impacted my job in the best of ways. If I could give this review 6 stars, I would.

He is the author of several books on American cultural history, including the award-winning The Simple Life: Plain Living and High Thinking in American Culture and Facing Facts: Realism in American Thought and Culture, 1850–1920.

George Brown Tindall spent many years on the faculty of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He was an award-winning historian of the South with a number of major books to his credit, including The Emergence of the New South.

Erik Anderson (San Antonio College, Texas) teaches American history and is involved with the Honors Academy. He also serves as the academic liaison with the Travis Early College High School program at San Antonio College. Anderson earned his doctorate at Brown University

Jonathan Lee (San Antonio College, Texas) served on the American Historical Association/Lumina Tuning Project and educational commissions in the state of Texas to establish discipline-wide historical learning outcomes. He received the “Most Inspirational Professor” award from Phi Theta Kappa Beta Nu. He is the coordinator of the Honors Academy at San Antonio College.
