Review: The wait is finally over. Shayne McClendon has released Backstage and it was a perfect performance. Backstage is divided into sections with each ‘act’ developing the story of a specific character. Bri, from Barter System and Hudson, is used to tell the stories of Mikayla and Madeline, sisters who travel from Oklahoma to New York hoping to bring their amazing play to life on the stage. The book is told through both flashbacks and current events. It was refreshing to jump back in time and get the history behind the characters but to also see them interacting with others that we have come to love. It was amazing to see the women embrace their roles in each others life, but also to realize their dreams and desires are different from what they have always shown the world. Mikayla and Madeline are amazing examples of people willing to sacrifice of themselves for the betterment of those around them. Backstage had its moments where my tears became too much, but ultimately it was a story of life and love. The final chapters paved the perfect path forward towards the next installment of the series. Once again, I am waiting patiently (ok, not so much) for more from Shayne!!!

BACKSTAGE!! Shayne Once Again Gives Us Another Amazing Story!!!!

Opening Night!! Off Broadway!! “Not that Desperate” Written, Produced and Directed by Madeline Johannson, Lead Actress, Mikayla Johannson. In the audience, Gabrielle, Nathalia and Hudson!!

The book opens with Gabrielle chatting with Nathalia and Hudson about the lives of the people responsible for the production of this play, while waiting for the curtain to go up. In true Brie fashion she tells the stories of the people involved backstage with the depth, breathe and beautiful heart that made us fall in love with her in the previous Barter System books. Some of the characters you will know, others are new, but all equally fascinating with a story that goes straight to your heart.

Backstage is an amazing book of short stories surrounded by the main story. The intricacy of the way Shayne weaves the characters together to make all parts of the story flow is flawless. Each story draws you tightly in it’s web that you never want to leave, but you then find yourself immersed in another story with new characters to fall in love with.

Some of the stars in this book are Mikayla Johannson, who became a dancer and actress to help her sister Madeline realize her dream of being a writer. They are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. We meet the gorgeous Zelder brothers, Ezra and Isaiah, who own the theatre. I don’t do spoilers, but these hot and sexy guys will leave you drooling!! There are just a few of the characters to grace the pages of this book!! All will leave you wanting to know more about their stories.

It was wonderful to read about Riya and Tawny and their men at the end of the book, but the really exciting part was about Brie and what I think is coming up for her hopefully in a book very soon!!! No spoilers, so you will have to find out what I’m not saying by reading this book. The last sentence of this book, will kill you, in a good way, I promise!!

I loved this book, but I knew I would because Shayne McClendon’s writing makes you feel her characters, their loves, their losses, their happiness and their sadness. The sex is always hot, dirty, erotic and sexy!! Thank you Shayne for giving us another beautiful amazing story!! Can’t wait for the next one!!

Shayne McClendon has done it again with another outstanding addition to her 'The Barter System' world/series! In this book we are taken on 3 separate but interconnected journeys with characters that were mentioned in passing previously as our main characters. And Shayne has also taken us briefly to visit characters from previous books that I at least had fallen in love with! The Zelders & the Johannsens have now been firmly added to my best book friends list! If you haven't read any of Shayne's previous books, honestly you could pick up anywhere and read them. But if you have, you'll love checking in with old friends as well as making new ones. And you'll appreciate the mentions of characters from other series that I hadn't realised were interconnected! Another polished release from Ms McClendon. Well done! Now hurry up and write the next one!!! ;-)

Funniest Book I've Ever Read!

Number one of four in the "Totleigh Towers series," this is perhaps the funniest book I've ever read in my entire life! Buy this book, and then get Wodehouse's The Mating Season (#2 in the series), Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves (#3), and Much Obliged, Jeeves (#4). Your life will never be the same! Be prepared to become addicted to Wodehouse's Jeeves & Wooster books!

Best Wodehouse Book I've read yet!

Like many, I discovered P.G. Wodehouse later in life, and so glad I did. One of the most brilliant humorists of any generation. It's not so much the plot (they're all pretty similar - Bertie in the Jeeves' series or Psmith or the Blanding's Castle cast or his other characters always get into some predicament involving eccentric relatives, on-again, off-again marriage plans, or some other harmless chicanery), but those of us who are devotees never tire of the brilliant repartee, characters, and humorous portrayal of the British landed gentry of the early 20th century. All of the books are enjoyable, some more than others, but I have to say without a doubt that "The Code of the Woosters" is definitely the most laugh-out-loud brilliant humor/writing/reading experience I've had to-date from Wodehouse. Absolutely pitch-perfect. Jeeves is at his finest, Bertie is either oblivious or in deep waters - often both at the same time. The range of characters is spot on - just the right touch throughout. I strongly recommend this book, and guarantee Wodehouse devotees you won't be disappointed!

Witty, soothing, refreshing

A truly enchanting escape into a colorful and peculiar social universe of the iconic British leisure class. As a young man living in a world where it seems every social interaction is marked with the interruption of cell phones or television, I thoroughly enjoyed following the silly social predicaments of Bertie and Jeeves. I'm no doctor but if this isn't good for your blood pressure, I don't know what is.
