Compelling, Clear, Horrifying and Spiritual - a MUST Read

David Shurter must be one of those people who is blessed beyond belief. I say this, knowing that he is a survivor of unspeakable torture and brainwashing, who amazingly made it through the nightmare of his childhood and pre-adulthood. Rabbit Hole, his personal account of life in Omaha, NE in the 70's, 80's, and 90's, is chilling and totally believable. His writing is compelling, gripping my attention from the first page of the introduction.
David recounts a life in which he was groomed from birth to be the "Antichrist" -- something he spurned early on. The excruciating torture and mind control used on him by his father and step-mother (who were Satanists) were not enough to seperate him from a spiritual connection to God that would take the form Shamanism, sustaining him, even while he was homeless, penniless, and trapped in the gay life of the underbelly of Omaha's city life.
With clear language, sometimes graphic language, David reveals the sordid details of child-trafficking, money laundering, and his forced participation in torture and murder of other human beings. His Satanic training came under the tuteledge of Michael Acquino, founder of the Temple of Set, along with the brutal, narcissistic treatment by his "parents."
By speaking out, David has shown great courage and determination to get justice for the families of the many children who were kidnapped by his father and his associates, and used in Satanic rituals. By learning the lessons of forgiveness, David surprises the reader when he tells of forgiving his birth mother for abandoning him in preference to addictions, and when he forgives his father in his later years.
Rabbit Hole is one of those books that when you read it, you find yourself holding your breath til you find out what happens next. David is masterful in his use of the English language, telling a story of horrendous abuse with piercing clarity, and candor.
What I know of those who bully others, as David's step-mother continues to bully and harrass him, is that they are cowards. I admire David's conviction, confidence and spirituality.

Interesting and thought provoking

David Shurter's book, Rabbit Hole, rings very true to me and to many people I know who've lived in Omaha.
There are many publications that validate the problems of illegal activities conducted by satanic cults, in fact, here is a list of 107 of these publications: [...}. The best from that list is available on amazon.com: Ritual Abuse in the Twenty-First Century, by Randy Noblitt, 2008. There are also many sources that validate the existence of CIA Mind control experiments such as the ones David Shurter describes, including a book available on amazon.com: The CIA Doctors: Human Rights Violations by American Psychiatrists by Colin Ross, 2006. It doesn't take a leap of faith to make the obvious conclusion that there are hundreds if not thousands of survivors like David Shurter, most of whom would be far too terrified to share their stories.
Some have criticized the fact that big names are dropped in the book, i.e. that some of the abusers were friends with George H.W. Bush and other high ranking government officials. David is not saying that George H.W. Bush had anything at all to do with his abuse, only that the abusers had greater freedom to pursue their illegal activities due to those friends in high places who would unwittingly protect these abusers. And the fact that a known satanist was close friends with CIA officials does not mean that the CIA approved of the satanic abuse, but it does mean that there is already some proven overlap between these two organizations. Why is it difficult to believe that there were others who overlapped? We all know that most child pornographers and pimps are never caught, so why should it be surprising that some of them would have also have ties to other professions? It is not surprising at all, and I just have to wonder about the people who so vehemently try to discredit David Shurter. Could it be that they have something to hide? The huge amount of child pornography in the world and the abundance of unsolved child disappearances means that we should stop jumping so quickly to deny information like this
Others have criticized the parts of the book devoted to David's religion of choice, which is called Shamanism. People in every religion have had mystical experiences that can't be explained. David Shurter's spiritual experiences should be understood as his own subjective perceptions, which he kindly shared in hopes of helping other survivors of torture and severe abuse.
I applaud David Shurter for having the courage to write and publish a book which is sure to raise a lot of flack in our FMS embedded establishment. His memories ring true in a way that most people understand. There is no such thing as a 100% true memory by anyone anywhere, but there is a lot of evidence that people tend to deny and try to forget their childhood traumas.
This book is an important contribution, and should be read by anyone who works with abused children or with adult survivors of severe abuse.

This Book is a Triumph

Writing a memoir for anyone is known to be a harrowing experience, because you have to relive your life in order to get the proper perspective to write about it. For David Shurter, revisiting his past took courage beyond belief. And yet he did it, despite the harassment of some of his family members who continue to want to remain in the shadows. His dedication to telling the truth is admirable, but what caused me to rate this book at 5 stars is because I couldn't put it down. I've been fascinated and horrified by the events in Omaha since I saw the You Tube video Conspiracy of Silence (which network TV did attempt, via conspiracy, to silence). But it wasn't until Rabbit Hole that I began to fit the pieces together in a broader--yet scarier--way. It is shocking what people can get away with when everyone is too scared to speak up about what is going on.
Kudos to David who is not afraid to speak about his experience, despite the threats and efforts to quash him that persist even now. As long as books like this are available, there is hope for transformation from suffering to grace for all of us.
