I'm so glad I purchased this book because other books I have purchased only teach fundamentals of drawing, but rarely teach technique on how to physically draw. This book teaches the power of shading with line and goes into theory about how to apply the methods. This is going to be a very good reference for me now and in the future. I think it suits people that like the crosshatching and sketchy/ pencil strokes aesthetic very well.
I think it is best used alongside a fundamentals of drawing book that goes into depth about things like form, perspective, etc.
